About

Go Without a Guide was created to share our love of adventuring.

This has led us to some far-flung places where information – even on the big, beautiful internet – was thin on the ground. Go Without a Guide aims to remedy this by providing solid advice on independent travel, so you know what to expect, what to bring, and most importantly so you can learn from our mistakes!

About the author

Anna Clover painstakingly assembled all the words on the website.  She is simultaneously an economist and a dirt bag at heart, happiest when slumming it in some remote corner of the globe or otherwise crunching numbers to find trends.  She dreams of one day completing a north-south crossing of the African continent and getting lost in the jungles of Papua New Guinea.

When not out adventuring, Anna can be found earning a living in cosmopolitan, capitalistic London.  As a coping strategy for urban life, she enjoys hanging about at climbing walls, socialism and instant coffee.

About the photographer

Brian Grell found the world interesting from an early age. As an adult, he contributed to Man’s understanding of the universe by completing his PhD thesis in quantum physics. Having proved himself in the top 1% of brains, Brian felt able to dedicate himself, without prejudice, to his life’s true calling: professional male modelling. He enjoys working both in front of and behind the camera, particularly when out on a rugged adventure.

Brian is interested in aircraft, fencing and fridge magnets. He currently lives in Hamburg and dreams of his next adventure in the Pacific, exploring obscure islands on the hunt for WW2 wrecks.
